DAQRI, founded in 2010, offers some interesting enterprise augmented reality (AR) technologies that have high industry-disruption potential, with a variety of products in development, trial, or deployment phases.
The company recently secured a $260m round of funding, highlighting investor optimism in the company’s AR technology and industry approach. This signals a mix of successful product trials, customer pre-orders, breakthrough technology, and strategic partnerships (e.g. with Autodesk’s design suite).
DAQRI’s products are differentiated from competitors such as Microsoft HoloLens and Google Glass by primarily targeting the heavier, safety-regulated industries that have a variety of planning and execution inefficiencies (e.g. lack of digital information access on worksites, complicated training).
Outside of its Smart Helmet and Glasses products, DAQRI is developing a second, more sophisticated iteration of its Smart Heads Up Display on the back of the rising smart car wave.
