
Dr Alexander Simkin, Senior AnalystAlexander is a senior analyst within the Software and IT Services practice at Ovum where he focuses on application-led outsourcing and project services. He also covers the software and IT services (S/ITS) market for the retail vertical. As a researcher and analyst, Alexander maintains a broad remit. He has written on diverse issues including onshore/offshore convergence, vendor portfolio strategy and IT staffing. Before joining Ovum, Alexander was a senior consultant at Clarendon, a boutique analyst firm. During his nearly four years there, he headed the company's worldwide software advisory service for the retail and hospitality industries. Prior to that, he worked for six years in e-commerce. And before that, he taught at the London School of Economics. Alexander speaks basic Japanese and fluent French. While at Ovum, he has been quoted in the French and English-language media on the acquisition strategy of Indian S/ITS vendors in Europe. Alexander holds a BA in Psychology from the Johns Hopkins University where he graduated a year early with honours. He also has an MSc (Econ) in Social Psychology from the London School of Economics and a doctorate in Japanese Politics and Sociology from Oxford University. His doctoral studies incorporated a visiting graduate studentship at Jochi University in Tokyo.
