Warren Wilson, Research Director, Ovum SummitWarren Wilson covers a topic of increasing importance for enterprise software vendors: the success of their partner ecosystems. As enterprise applications such as ERP, CRM and SCM evolve, they tend towards parity in their capabilities. Vendors, less able to differentiate their offerings on the basis of features and functionality, are increasingly reliant on partners for success in the marketplace. Warren leads Ovum Summit's research on dynamic application ecosystems, through which he tracks and compares the ecosystem strategies of major enterprise software vendors vying for dominance as the industry evolves and consolidates. Warren closely examines key trends, innovations and success factors across a broad range of potential ecosystem partners, including ISVs, developers, resellers, consultants and integrators, and hosting and service providers. His research also focuses on how key vendors build loyalty among their partners and how they create and manage demand to help their partners (and themselves) succeed. Warren helps clients keep an eye on where the money is flowing in the software value chain. Warren's ability to examine technology trends and distill his findings into concise insights makes him a valuable resource for technology reporters. He has been quoted in such publications as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The San Jose Mercury-News, CNET, CRN, Forbes.com, InformationWeek, RCR Wireless News, TechWeb and USA Today. Warren joined Ovum Summit (then, Summit Strategies) in 1998, after a 20-year career in journalism. At the Seattle Post-Intelligencer he wrote extensively about Microsoft and its legal challenges, including the antitrust action brought by the US Department of Justice. Warren was previously an editor at The Miami Herald, where he directed coverage of a wide range of public issues. He holds a bachelor's degree from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota.
