 Tom Kucharvy, Senior Vice President, Ovum SummitAs founder and president of Summit Strategies, Tom Kucharvy now directs Ovum Summit in its strategic analysis of emerging markets, technologies and strategies in the information technology and communications industries. Tom has compiled an impressive record of anticipating trends - and helping clients drive and prepare for industry shaping change - in his 23 years in the IT industry. Although Tom's focus continually evolves in anticipation of emerging industry trends, all of his work is grounded in identifying impending industry inflection points and defining the strategies that will allow vendors to drive and capitalise on these changes. Over the last several years, his focus has been on the requirements for establishing vendors as leaders in dynamic computing (also known as on-demand computing, utility computing, etc.) and the ways in which vendors can use value-added consulting and managed services to solidify relationships with customers and differentiate themselves from competitors. He has a broad and deep understanding of the strategies of - and the opportunities for partnering with - IT industry and dynamic computing leaders. Tom has published numerous thought-provoking analyses, ranging from one-page opinion pieces to 200-page tomes. He has spoken and been quoted in forums worldwide, and regularly consults with senior executives throughout the industry. He has developed a reputation for his broad, industry spanning perspective, his piercing strategic insight and his brutal objectivity. This has won him a loyal following among key marketing and strategy executives in many of the most innovative and powerful companies in the industry. Prior to founding Summit Strategies, Tom practised law (driving one case as far as the United States Supreme Court) and worked as a service director and senior consultant at The Yankee Group. Tom draws upon his rigorous analytical training in philosophy, law, international business, economics and political science to formulate his innovative 'outside-of-the-box' thinking. Tom holds a bachelor's degree, a master's degree in Business Administration and a J.D. from Syracuse University, as well as a master's degree from the University of Chicago.
