Julien Grivolas, Principal Analyst

Julien Grivolas is a principal analyst in Ovum's telecoms group. He specialises in the wireless and broadband wireless access (BWA) markets, covering technologies such as UMTS/HSPA, LTE and WiMAX.

His work includes research on the technical and strategic aspects related to BWA technologies, evaluating infrastructure vendors, producing forecasts and leading workshops. Julien has spoken at several conferences on the mobile broadband market, and on HSPA and WiMAX in particular.

On the wireless infrastructure side, Julien has also written reports on various topics such as UMTS900, network sharing, wireless backhaul or solutions promoted by vendors to enable greener wireless networks.

Julien has also contributed to the service platforms research area, focusing on IMS, SDP and multimedia platforms.

Julien has eight years' expertise as a telecoms equipment analyst, having previously worked in the telecoms equipment sector. Before joining Ovum, he was an analyst covering the telecoms network equipment sector for another research firm. Prior to that, Julien was a project manager at Cegetel, where he was responsible for technical economic studies in the Telephony Architecture Department, drawing up business plans for several international mobile telecoms operations.
