David James, Principal Analyst

David James has over 20 years' experience in the telecoms and IT industry. He leads Ovum's team of analysts specialising in the wholesale telecoms market. The Wholesale team gives strategic advice to operators and service providers seeking to understand developments in the wholesale telecoms market, and how demand for new products and services will evolve. David researches, analyses and advises companies on key market developments, players and trends in wholesale markets around the world.

David is particularly interested in how wholesale service providers can develop better, cost-effective approaches to customer care and what they need to do to meet the changing needs of their customers.

David's most recent research has included an analysis of market shares in the European wholesale market, and case studies profiling leading wholesale players through their strategies, service portfolios and strengths and weaknesses. He has produced forecasts for a range of wholesale services across the world, a survey of wholesale customers, and a study of wholesalers' strategies for interacting with their customers.

David also speaks at seminars, briefings and conferences on a range of wholesale telecoms subjects.

Prior to joining the Wholesale team in 2003, David worked in Ovum's Consultancy group. He joined Ovum in 1999, having previously worked for Logica, Kingston-SCL and Aspect Telecommunications. He has an MBA from Strathclyde Graduate Business School and a degree in Computing Science from Imperial College, University of London.
