Clare McCarthy, Principal Analyst

Clare McCarthy is a principal analyst specialising in telco operations and business strategies. Her career spans 18 years, during which time she has researched and tracked many major developments in global telecoms, and carried out consultancy assignments for vendors, fixed and wireless operators and regulators.

Clare has a wide range of consulting skills and project management experience. Previous assignments include telco transformation strategies, customer retention and loyalty strategies, global competitor positioning for billing systems, MVNO market entry strategies, strategies for developing mobile payments systems, international investment strategies for mobile operators, and the socio-economic impact of broadband in the EU 25.

Clare has produced research for Ovum in the areas of network equipment providers and telco services, telco challenges in delivering good customer experience, operator benchmarks (for global MNOs), India's mobile market, third-generation mobile systems, the business opportunity for mobile location services, data over GSM, market strategies for virtual private networks and value-added network services in Europe.

Clare has appeared on BBC Business Breakfast and CNN, commenting on Europe's 3G auctions. She has presented for all the major conference producers around the world, most recently at 3GSM Eastern Europe on 'The Future Telecoms Trends in the CEE Market', and at Informa's conference on Customer Retention and Loyalty in Mobile on 'Growing Loyalty through Reward and Renewal'.

Prior to Ovum, Clare worked for BT Group Strategy and Datapro, now part of Gartner.
