CMTS port shipments reach new heights in 4Q07

DSL shipments recover in 4Q; finishing 2007 with a 10% increase over 2006

For immediate release, 18 February 2008. Ovum RHK today posted its analysis of global fourth-quarter and FY2007 DSL and CMTS port shipments. "Global DSL shipments rebounded after 3Q07's decline, boosting the full-year results up 10% over 2006," said Tanya Harris, Senior Analyst, at Ovum RHK. "The CMTS market finished the year with a record quarter - all three major vendors enjoyed double-digit sequential gains."

4Q07 highlights:

• DSLAM shipments' growth versus 3Q07 = 3 percent
• DSLAM shipments' growth versus 4Q06 = 5 percent
• CMTS shipments' growth versus 3Q07 = 21 percent
• CMTS shipments' growth versus 4Q06 = 5 percent

FY 2007

• DSLAM shipments' growth versus 2006 = 10 percent
• CMTS shipments' growth versus 2006 = 1 percent

Alcatel-Lucent shipped 8.3 million DSL ports (36 percent market share on a rolling four-quarter basis), followed by Huawei (22 percent), ZTE (10 percent), Nokia Siemens Networks (7 percent), Ericsson (7 percent), and UTStarcom (4 percent).

In the CMTS market, Cisco remained the dominant vendor with 50 percent rolling 4Q market share, followed by Arris (35 percent), and Motorola (12 percent).
