Ovum Consulting provides expert consulting advice on the Software and IT Services (S/ITS) industry. We provide advice to two main groups:

Ovum Consulting is grounded on the research produced by the wider Ovum team in the ICT Industry Analysis, Software, Outsourcing, and Public Sector practices. We provide consulting advice that can be pragmatically implemented and that will have a tangible benefit.
End-users organisations - both commercial and public sector
At a strategic level we advise organisations on technology strategy, enterprise architectures to support the strategy, and the overall evolution and modernisation stages needed to enable a modern IT function to serve the needs of its business customers.
Ovum Consulting advises end-user organisations on their interaction with the commercial S/ITS industry. The advice covers the stages in a project lifecycle from:
- analysis and monitoring of the software industry, outsourcing and IT services markets.
- options and requirements definition, and their evaluation.
- supplier selection, procurement and negotiation support.
We provide industry specific advice to the Public Sector around issues that are particularly important to them. Although we have strong roots in the UK we work with Public Sector organisations across a wide range of geographies. Our advice helps public servants create and implement policy that affects society at large.
IT vendors and service providers
Ovum Consulting advises the vendor and service provider community on two main aspects of their business:
- identification of market potential.
- tactics and strategies to address market opportunities.
When helping vendors to understand the size of a market opportunity we carry out market sizing, analyse existing market competition, and identify and quantify the opportunities that exist.
Ovum Consulting helps vendors address the market opportunities through both M&A-related means - through acquisition targeting - and commercial due diligence. When organic growth routes are chosen, Ovum Consulting helps vendors to identify the strengths and weaknesses of their competition, and define the strategies and product/services packages that can provide differentiation.
